Creativity with Food Series by Hong Yi

Malaysian artist/architect Hong Yi created a series of fun illustrations made with common food. Her parameters were simple: the image had to be comprised entirely of food and the only backdrop could be a white plate. With that in mind Yi set out to create landscapes, animals, homages to pop culture, and even a multi-frame telling of the three little pigs. Check out some illustrations from her 31 days of creativity in the month of March!

Picturesque Foodscapes by Carl Warner

At first glance, the following images look like painted landscapes, including towering hills, picturesque houses and stormy sea in the background. But if you look more closely you will see that the stormy sea was made of cabbage, trees are broccoli or celery and the hills are freshly baked bread. These aren’t paintings but true photos! And everything you can see in the photo is made of real food! Pictures were created by London photographer Carl Warner who made specialty of these food landscapes or how I like to call them “foodscapes”. In recent years he has been commissioned by many advertising agencies throughout Europe to produce his distinctive images for clients in the food industry.

Facebook Ice Cream – “Facecreame”

Croatian designer Tomislav Zvonarić well known for his creative Facebook bed recently created a design concept of Facebook ice cream and called it Facecream. Just in time for summer comes a tasty design concept for tech fans. Tomislav says “I wanted to make something for the hot summer days. It’s not real, but it’s a fun design.” It would be interesting to see what flavor options would be. But we hardly see it in stores. Though pretty interesting concept. Don’t you think?

Dessert Pantone Tarts by Emilie de Griottes

French food designer Emilie de Griottes for a special feature in french culinary magazine Fricote developed dessert tarts that recreate Pantone colour swatches. Berries, carrots, lemon, candies, and other foods are arranged upon a tart base, whose bottom is iced in white and marked with the pantone colour represented. You can find recipes for making the tart in Fricote issue number 6 (2012). And meanwhile take a look at this collection of desert tarts.

Chocolate “Sweet Play” by Elsa Lambinet

French designer Elsa Lambinet created an absolutely new type of chocolate. Chocolate that allow you to mix and match filling and toppings to satisfy your taste. Each white, milk or dark chocolate shell has a slot in the front for wafers, nougat, biscuit or caramel, and a depression in the top to hold nuts, fruit or liquid. Lambinet designed the system while studying at Master of Advanced Studies in Luxury course at the Ecole Cantonale d’art de Lausanne (ECAL). Take a look and for sure you will want to have such choice in your chocolate box!

Creative STOYN Ice Cream

STOYN Ice Cream is an unique design experiment that brought together 10 of the most iconic figures in world culture and embodied their images into ice cream. Worldwide superheroes – Vladimir Mayakovsky, Darth Vader, Ernesto Che Guevara, Donald Duck, Marilyn Monroe, Mickey Mouse and Mario – their strength, character and talent were materializes in organic tastes of ice cream STOYN. Cranberry with vodka (Mayakovsky), blueberry with licorice (Darth Vader) and mate with rum (Che Guevara) – every taste reflects the role of these individuals in the global culture.
