Incredible Pencil Sculptures of Dalton J. Paul Getty

If you think that pencil is a tool for drawing, painting or writing notes – you’re wrong! 45-year-old carpenter, Dalton J. Paul Getty for 25 years turns ordinary pencils into incredible miniature sculptures. Without using a magnifying glass. “When I was a schoolboy, – says the master, – I made gifts to my friends, carving out their names on a pencils. Later, I decided to try sculpture, and after a long searching the choice fell on a pencil lead.” For such work Dalton uses blades, sewing needles and special knives for the sculptures. However, the material is too fragile and can not allow mistakes: at home Mr. Getty has more than 100 unfinished or broken sculptures. “At first I had a few broken figures, later I decided to keep them all in memory. I call this “cemetery collection”: they are all dear to me, yet I spent alone with them a few months.” Artist could spend a few months at one sculpture. For the creation miniature alphabet Dalton spent 2,5 years. “My patience is simply amazing people, because nowadays everyone wants to be quicker, faster and faster.”

Armour for Cats and Mice Created by Jeff de Boer

If you worry about safety of your pet specifically cat or mouse you should definetely check this awesome collection of armour for animals. This collection was created by Canadian artist Jeff de Boer and consist of armour for gladiators, medieval knights and even Samurais. Creation of each armour for a mouse takes from 10 to 40 hours, while armour for cats demands bigger efforts: from 50 to 100 hours. Made out from silver, bronze and wood these art works cost $500-2,000. For protectors of animals we’re glad to notice that Jeff didn’t experiment with mices, but his attempt to dress a cat in a knightly armour has ended with scratches and scars. Hope you’ll like it!

Unbelievable Kinetic Sculpture from BMW

Company BMW in conjunction with the design studio ART+COM decided to expand our understanding of “sculpture” and presented to the audience something unbelievable – “Kinetic Sculpture” created from numerous small metal balls floating in the air and grouping into various forms. It consists of exactly 714 metal spheres connected with a thin steel wires. Each wire in its turn is connected with an individual motor, which causes the ball in motion. Wires holding the ball are almost invisible, and it seems that spheres are floating in the air by themselves! Eyewitnesses say that’s unforgettable spectacle. Initially balls move randomly, and then begin to group into forms in which can be guessed shapes of BMW cars of various years: BMW 327, BMW 1500, BMW Z4 coupe concept and Mille Miglia.

Continuing the theme of Steampunk – Unique Steampunk Insects – we want you to show the remarkable collection of Steampunk characters, engines and vehicles created by Belgian artist Stephane Halleux. For a long time Stephane worked as an illustrator and drew cartoons in his spare time. In recent years he became interested in steampunk style and the creation of unusual sculptures. About his work, he says: “I like crazy mixtures, unlikely associations, advanced technology mixed with mechanisms of long ago. I’ve always been fascinated by robotics, its advantages and contradictions.” While creating these beautiful sculptures Stephen used leather, metal, wood pulp and recycled materials. The real size of the sculptures you could see at the last photo. I’m sure these crazy sculptures will not live you indifferent!

Miniatures in Wineglass

Everyone saw beautiful miniature copies of houses, ships or trains in the bottles. But it turns out that this is not the most complex miniature art. Artist Szymon Klimek from Poland creates quite working miniature versions of retro mechanisms in wineglass that are working on solar panels. He’s working with brass and tin sheets to create various old mechanisms, such as steam engine, sailing ship, bicycle or retro automobile. An amazing combination of advanced technical capabilities and unusual hobby.

Mr. Young C. Park from Honolulu, Hawaii ia a retired dentist with passion to aircraft modeling. This passion goes from childhood and transforms into amazingly realistic models of airplain. The Corsair had always been a favorite of Young C. Park and he decided to built the small model from aluminium. This model contains every rivet, every bolt, every cartridge from real plain but much more smaller. The Corsair from Young C. Park is just incredibly realistic.

Spouses Allen and Patty Eckman to create sculptures using paper and their original patented method. The sculptures created by Ekman relate to their personal hobbies. Thus, Allen Ekman belongs to Cherokee and his works are about the Indians. Patty also involves the Indians, but more on the theme of nature, women and children.
