Architectural bureau Parabol Studio has presented a proposal called Perceptual Twist for a new art gallery in the Slovenian city of Maribor. The building Perceptual Twist is composed of four continuous loops, merging into a one space. Each loop is a full-fledged exhibition center with its own artistic program: the Children’s Museum, the Architecture Museum, the Creative Industrial Museum, and the Digital Arts Museum. The total area of art galleries is nearly 15,000 square meters. The concept of an arts gallery, which brings together different kinds of creativity and at the same time recognizes the value of each of them, symbolically embodied in endless motion "loops" of the building, like a Mebius strip.

In the beautiful Georgian port city Batumi will be built brilliant "Batumi Aquarium". This fairytale building will be entirely devoted to the underwater world. Aquarium is designed in the form of pebbles, which cover the beaches in Batumi. There will be four pebble-shaped structures, each housing an exhibition space representing an unique marine biotype – the Aegean and Mediterranean seas, the Indian ocean, the Black and Red seas and an interactive exhibition. All pebbles will be connected by a central space, which will contain cafe, auditorium and retail areas. This stunning concept was developed by Danish architect studio Henning Larsen Architects. Another mobile living module that works absolutely independently on renewed energy sources. It’s called BLOOM and equipped by solar batteries, air and liquid solar collectors, water treating filters, the furnace of slow burning and system of processing of dust. Living space consists of entrance zone, three private living zones (each on two persons) and the general territory with lunch zone. Also BLOOM could be transformed for increasing internal space and connected with some modules together. The creator of this project Olga Kalugina claims that module is intended for six peoples from three days about one week.

At a time when headlines are full of reports about earthquakes, the most urgent question of architecture, is resistance to subterranean shocks. OFIS Architecture has created a tower “All-Seasons Tent Tower” main feature of which is exactly resistance to earthquakes. The project consists of two cylindrical towers, provided with solar energy, witch restaurants, apartments, shops, business centers, spa-center, swimming pool, bar and garage inside. The external facades of the towers are covered with a cellular membrane, equipped with shading devices to tap the sun in the summer, at the same time, the system provides cooling in summer and heating in winter. The roof is covered with solar panels that will supply the energy year round. In the summer of honeycombed facade is covered with greenery, planted on the terraces of the towers. This project presented at the contest for hotel of Mercedes-Benz in Yerevan, Armenia. Design is capable of withstanding earthquakes through a system of concrete cores and composite columns, which ensure the stability of the structure.

Talanted architector from UK Ben Lark has been tasked to create an object that could be used as a bar and observation deck for parties and public events. And he done this task magnificently. Designed in futuristic style and consisted from two moduls this building performs all the tasks and looks very creative and unusual. We just should wait till this building will appear as working bar!

Architectural Studio MAD Architects from China has developed the project called “URBAN Forest”, which became a logical continuation of the mountainous landscape of the country. This construction is designed as a cylindrical skyscraper made from multiple floors of different shapes and sizes which have been layered slightly off-center from one another. Each floor has a large glass gallery, which is very convenient to overlook the city panorama. Very spectacular idea but at the same time it’s interesting when this skyscraper will be built.

In one of the previous posts we talked about Lilypad – floating eco-city. But it will be created no earlier than 2100. This concept is much more closer. In March 2010 is scheduled to begin construction of the first floating apartment complex in Europe. And it will happen in Holland. Project of Waterstudio – Citadel – this is a kind of attempt to reconcile with the enviroment, to begin to live on the water, not only near the water. Each apartment will have an excellent view over the water, and some of them – the place for small boats. For connection between Citadel and the land will be created a bridge.

Excellent conceptual idea for the lovers of hiking. English mobile operator Orange has recently presented their vision for the tent of the future. Well even it was just tent it could be purchased at least for a stylish appearence. But it has enough benefits. This miracle tent made from photovoltaic fabric capable of storing solar energy (an excellent replacement of cumbersome photovoltaic panels!). Subsequently, with the help of this energy you could charge mobile devices – just put them in a special pocket. The tent is equipped with LCD-screen as well. Also it’s very convenient to look for a tent in the dark or in a large tent camp – you just need to activate it via sms or RFID-technology, and a tent will light up with a soft yellow light.
