A modular smartphone case that can boost battery life, add USB connections and even turn a phone into a thermometer has launched on Kickstarter. The case, called Nexpaq, takes inspiration from Google’s Project Ara modular phone and allows users to add new features and functions. Rather than buying a new phone, Nexpaq adds modular features to existing handsets. It is hoping to raise $50,000 (£32,700) on Kickstarter, with early backers able to get the case and four modules for $89 (£58). At launch Nexpaq is only compatible with the iPhone 6, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and Samsung Galaxy S5 but the team behind the Kickstarter said they hoped to bring it to other popular smartphones in the future.
