Conceived as both a brand and an ethos, superhouse intends to create 30 properties around the world for ‘super-rich’ clients. The concept was created by the founder of Ström Architects, Magnus Ström , whose idea for limited-edition luxury residences came from working with a renowned naval architect, responsible for designing superyachts. Superhouse’s mission is to design dwellings with a holistic approach that caters to clients’ individual lifestyles. “When a superhouse is commissioned, the investment is not just in a design for a home, it is the design for this lifestyle,” explains the team. As with a limited edition series of art or watches, there will be only 30 ‘superhouses’ ever created. each property will have its own number engraved somewhere on its façade. Shown here, ‘S 00/30’ is located in a private Mediterranean bay on a Spanish island. The house is accessed via a long winding road through the mountainous landscape, or – more simply – by helicopter. Two L-shaped stone walls enclose the dwelling, with two distinct timber volumes containing separate functions. The first contains service elements such as the kitchen, storage, and staff accommodation. The second volume contains a spa and a gym. A staircase leads to the master suite and four junior suites above, allowing the clients to descend directly for morning exercise and a swim in their 50 meter infinity pool. A private beach with a dock accommodates a yacht and its tender.
