Meet the new Jacob & Co. Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon, with an animated W16 on your wrist. To capture the spirit and energy of the high-powered Bugatti Chiron (on of the most expensive cars in the world), Jacob & Co. spent just about a year in the development stages before bursting onto the scene with the new $280,000 Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon. The watch is powered with a movement that emulates the Bugatti 16-cylinder engine, complete with crankshaft and pistons. In fact, the 16-cylinder piston engine of the manual winding movement consists of a massive 578 hand-assembled parts.
It offers not only hours and minutes, but also a newly designed one-minute tourbillon cage that is inclined by 30 degrees to offer a spectacular view of the constantly rotating escapement that compensates for errors in timekeeping due to the effects of gravity when the watch is in certain positions on the wrist. The development of this exceptional new escapement, for which Jacob & Co. worked with movement designers, took a full year in and of itself. It is visible via an aperture that resembles the Bugatti grill.
The Jacob & Co. Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon is worn on a ventilated black rubber strap with a titanium deployant buckle. No words regarding a limited production, but at USD 280,000, don’t expect to see this very often. Meanwhile, be sure to check 10 most expensive wrist watches in the world.
