Jaquet Droz has presented two new models of its Lady 8 Flower, that was first unveiled in 2015 and represented the very first Automaton collection fully dedicated to women. Handcrafted by specialised artisans, the Lady 8 Flower continues the tradition of the brand of taking inspiration from nature for many of its creations. This heritage is honoured in the two latest variations. Each issued in a Numerus Clausus edition of 8 pieces, the new models are characterised by the signature Jaquet Droz figure 8, a symbol of perfection and harmony formed by the watch dial overlaid with the dial of the automaton. On the watch dial, a pair of hand-crafted gold hands sweep across a dial decorated with floral motifs.
In the white gold model, the dome-shaped Grand Feu enamel dial blooms with Lotus flowers engraved in bas-relief. The intensity and depth of the palette of blues are tweaked by adjusting the amount of enamel powder applied in each firing. The dial of the red gold model showcases a lace-like bouquet of flowers carved from mother-of-pearl. Each model is set with 249 diamonds on the bezel, ring and buckle.
The precious stone is also animated, swivelling in opposite directions as the Lotus opens and closes to display every facet of the glittering briolette cut.
Protected by the 35 mm case, the Jaquet Droz 615 self-winding movement beats at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hours and offers a power reserve of 38 hours.
Like all mechanical movements used by Jaquet Droz, this calibre features silicon balance spring and pallet horns to guarantee excellent resistance to shock and variations in temperature or pressure as well as to magnetic fields. The Lady 8 Flower is another Jaquet Droz creation where creativity, precision and mechanical mastery are enriched by the signature touch of the brand, the Art of Astonishment.
