Magnificent Retro Style Photos of Bonneville Salt Flats

Bonneville Land Speed Racing is a unique sport that consists of very determined people who drive hot rods, roadsters, belly tankers, lakesters, motorcycles, streamliners, and even diesel trucks to “shoot the salt” in a simple quest to have their name added to the list of many record holders. And today we want to show you great photos of Christopher Wilson showing part of a campaign of imagery documenting Speed Week at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Enjoy!

El Mirage & Bonneville by Lance Dawes

The following series of photos was created by photographer from California Lance Dawes. “In 2009 I had the chance to help Julio Hernandez build a flathead powered bellytank to race at the dried lakebed of El Mirage, CA. and the salt flats in Bonneville, UT. They’ve been racing at El Mirage longer but Bonneville is truly spiritual mecca of land speed racing. Miles upon miles of flat, white salt that’s cool to the touch while the air is 130 degrees and unbearable. The fastest cars in the world have broken records here and many people lose their lives every year.” Deep into special aura of the world of speed racing.
