The MINI CitySurfer Concept

MINI has presented an innovative urban vision that provides increased flexibility for individual mobility in congested areas; the MINI “CitySurfer” concept combines the riding properties of a kick scooter with an electric drive and thanks to its compact structure, it collapses and folds in half. weighing just 18 kilograms, the electrified two-wheeler has been developed for use on its own and in combination with other means of transportation – for example in a luggage compartment, or on buses and trains. The auxiliary electric drive boasts a thumb-operated accelerator and gearless hub motor in the rear wheel – the electric motor power reaches a top speed of 25 km/h (15 mph) and isn’t activated until a minimum speed is reached from the rider’s own physical thrust. The power supply is connected via a lithium-ion battery permanently installed in the frame, which can be charged by a 12-volt automobile socket or household socket. The MINI CitySurfer concept integrates large wheels with pneumatic tires which makes it suitable for bumpy paths. Its stable frame and height-adjustable handlebars complements three brake systems which operate independently of each other.

Mini Superleggera Vision Concept

On the eve of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on Lake Como in Italy, MINI unveiled its Superleggera Vision, the first formal collaboration between the brand that loves to motor and the legendary Italian coach-building firm Touring Superleggera. The open-top, compact two-seater roadster is born from a British-Italian romance, and the concept car inherits the best that each of its parents has to offer. “The MINI Superleggera Vision elegantly perpetuates what the Classic Mini started 55 years ago: reduction to the essentials,” says Anders Warming, Head of MINI Design. “Its energetic, minimalistic design embodies the dynamic essence of an automobile. At the same time, it creates unique emotional beauty in combining the past and future of the automotive industry.” A longer bonnet on the typical MINI stance lends a more dynamic look to the otherwise stout form, and a clean-up of the lines creates a seriously refined overall appearance. “MINI and Touring both believe that proportions are the key factor of beauty, and share the same values of essentiality and innovation” says Louis de Fabribeckers, Head of Design of Touring Superleggera. “In this car all unnecessary equipment or decoration is sacrificed, as performance is gained through lightness and efficiency of the bodywork and interior. The Italian touch is in the proportions and the typical waistline.” And it’s a high waistline, but it serves the car well.

MINI Utility Vehicle Turns Heads and Tight Corners

While it might seem like a contradiction in terms, the MINI Paceman Adventure packs the power and versatility of a utility vehicle into the characteristically compact frame that MINI are known for. Before you get yourselves into a state of frantic anticipation, MINI fans, we’re sorry to have to tell you that Project Colorado (the codename for bringing the MINI ute to life) only had the aim of producing a concept car. According to MINI spokespersons, there are currently no plans to advance the project towards a production stage. Currently all we can do is gaze longingly at the small, tough and scrappy ute offspring but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the Paceman Adventure will remain a concept car forever. MINI have dared to cross into uncharted waters before when they have been armed with a design concept that they believe is capable of making sufficient impact on the pre-existing market. If the Paceman Adventure piques the interest of enough MINI fans and potential first-time buyers then the jump from concept to production may prove to be a short one.
