Morgan EV3: 3 Wheels, Ash Wood Frame And Electric Traction

Morgan, an independent British bespoke car manufacturer with a long tradition of keeping true to its design heritage, build three-wheel electric vehicle complying with its 1930s flair – the “EV3”. It will be the first production electric vehicle to be built by the company and takes shape in an entirely different perspective. The “EV3” embraces technology, delivers a unique driving excitement and continues to celebrate traditional British craftsmanship. Weighing less than 500 kilograms, the all-electric three wheeler has a 20 KWh lithium battery with a range of 242 kilometers. Encased within the tubular space frame made of carbon fiber panels is a water cooled 46kW motor driving the rear wheel. The body construction utilizes a carbon bonnet, a protective cover, side pads and aluminum panels, all of which are hand worked over an ash wood frame. Following their 1930s traditions, the face of the “EV3” is designed to function. Brass conductive coolings fins surround the batteries and an off-centre tri-bar headlight adds to the overall asymmetry of the design. An entirely fresh dashboard arrangement features a classic “magneto” switch for drive selection, a digital screen, wood, brass and polished aluminum. Morgan plan to put the “EV3” into production in the late 2016.

2015 Morgan Aero 8

Legendary British automaker Morgan represent new lightweight, powerful and effortlessly stylish Morgan Aero 8. The 5th generation Aero delivers the famous vintage styling in soft-top convertible form, with plenty of upgrades, including a new hand-sculpted aluminum chassis, improved suspension, updated front end, anti-roll bars, better aerodynamics, and even improved air conditioning. Under the hood is a 4.8L V8 sourced from BMW that creates 367 horsepower and promises a 0-62 run of just 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 170 mph. A six-speed manual or six-speed automatic are the gearbox options. The 2015 Morgan Aero 8 will replace both the existing Aero SuperSports and Coupé.

Morgan Electric Plus E Sports Car

This amazing combination of retro look and newest technologies is called Electric Plus E running on electric energy. British automaker Morgan has unveiled their newest concept, the Electric Plus E, at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. With design based on the Morgan Plus 8, the Electric Plus E was fitted with a Zytek electric motor and a lithium-ion battery, two power sources that allow the vehicle to travel up to 120 miles on just a single charge. The Morgan Plus E Concept produces an output of 160 horsepower and 280 lb/ft of torque while mated to a five-speed manual transmission. These figures allow it to travel from 0-62 mph in 6.0 seconds with a top speed of 115 mph.

Stunning Concept Morgan EvaGT

The Morgan Motor Company always produce extremely beautiful models and this model continues this tradition. At the last Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance the minor British automaker, who celebrated its 100th anniversary last year, has unveiled stunning new Morgan EvaGT. This is a four seater coupe targeted to young families and with a focus on innovative materials and technologies and eco-friendly features. The design of EvaGT features a dramatic styling, underlined by minimal shut lines, hidden wipers, flush door handles and sharp creases. The surfaces are achieved using superformed aluminum technology. The EvaGT will be powered by a BMW 3.0 liter, twin-turbo, direct injection inline-six. Thanks to its wight of just 1,250 kg, it will reach a top speed of 273 km/h and a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 4.5 seconds. Also its light weight will give the EvaGT the added advantage of reasonable fuel consumption – the automaker is quoting 7 litres per 100 km. Morgan says the first 100 cars of a limited run are planned to begin production in mid 2012.
