Patagonia Dreaming – Wild Beauty on Photos of Andy Lee

“Majestic” is one word that instantly comes to mind as you browse through Andy Lee‘s portfolio of landscape photography. Shot on a recent trip to Chile, the photographer’s images of the sweeping scenery embrace the power and solemn glory of the country’s natural beauty. Patagonia is a sparsely populated region tucked into the southern tip of South America. The area is known for its expansive deserts and grasslands, and of course the magnificent Andes mountain range. The majority of Lee’s shots capitalize on these breathtaking, jagged peaks as they puncture through layers of wispy clouds. His use of natural lighting renders emotion from the rocky cliff faces, each photo communicating an entirely different mood. Though the UK-based photographer dabbles in a variety of creative outlets, he states that he finds a joy in photography. This passion is evident within his landscapes, as he manages to create a distinct tone in each shot, properly celebrating the brilliance of the wilderness he photographs.

Feather Art by Chris Maynard

By applying various techniques spanning the disciplines of art, design and craft American artist Chris Maynard carefully sculpts mini dioramas of the the flighted creatures. Maynard uses small eye surgery scissors, forceps, scalpels, and magnifiers to arrange the cutouts of feathers that have been used with permission from private aviaries and zoos. “Feathers are structural wonders, serving many functions. They also suggest important universal themes. Feathers are my medium. They are an ultimate achievement of nature and a pinnacle of wonder. After feathers perform their functions on birds, they are molted yearly but keep their beauty and complexity. I want to show feathers in a different light, off the bird. I enjoy highlighting aspects of a feather’s form, pattern or color. If I am successful, I hope to convey some intimate sense of the bird that grew the feathers… feathers are one of life’s perfect wonders; with this in mind, the three dimensional forms, colors, and shapes are preserved as they were on the birds they came from.”

Beautiful Art Photos by Iwona Drozda-Sibeijn

Today we want to show you beautiful and gentle photos of Iwona Drozda-Sibeijn, photographer from Amstelveen, the Netherlands. “I’m a manager, majoring in EU projects in non-profit organizations. Art has never been my profession but rather a hobby, which started playing more and more significant role in my life. 5 years ago I was still making collages in Corel Photopaint out of horrible photos taken with a compact camera. Getting new tools 2 years ago brought me to another level-I surprisingly noticed my pictures were gaining a better quality! This is where I am now; trying new techniques improving my stuff and share it all with wider audience. Yet still, art remains the same for me-a perfect way to embody my emotions.” Hope you will like it!
