Modern Wooden House In Slovenia by studio PIKAPLUS

studio PIKAPLUS have designed this small two bedroom house surrounded by a forest in Slovenia, that has an exterior of black metal siding and a softer light wood interior. Inside the home, black furniture and design elements contrast the light wood interior, like in the living room and the stairs. Glass doors open the living room to the deck outside. Opposite the living room is the dining room, also with doors to the outside. Windows that follow the shape of the house allow natural light to flood the space. White bench seating along the wall has been included on one side of the dining table to save space. Next to the dining room is the kitchen. It has a u-shaped layout with white hard-ware free cabinets, a wood countertop and open shelves that float on the wall. Black elements, like the fridges and sink and artwork, are also featured. Also on the main level is the only bathroom in the home, that has a black shower and flooring, as well as a light wood vanity. Black steel and wood stairs lead to the upper floor of the home. Upstairs, the master bedroom has a sloped ceiling, matching the line of the house. On one side of the bed there’s a glass railing that overlooks the living room, and on the other side of the bed, there’s a wall of built-in storage. Opposite the master bedroom is the children’s bedroom. Custom bunk beds perfectly fit into the space, and if friends stay over, there’s a pull out bed too. Another glass railing allows the bedroom to overlook the dining room below.

Noordung Angel Edition – Premium Electric Bike from Slovenia

Noordung, a young Slovenian startup, specializes in creating unique, handmade, urban electric bikes. Their first series, Noordung Angel Edition, will only consist of 15 of the bikes making them an exclusive bicycle made for the true cycling enthusiasts. Its lightweight frame is made of carbon composites. The Noordung Angel Edition Electric Bike has a 4-in-1 removable battery you can take anywhere. Instead of using it exclusively for pedal assistance, the designers made it multi-functional, building a pair of gadget-charging USB ports and a Bluetooth speaker into the motorcycle tank-inspired shape, then adding a handsome leather strap to make it easy to carry. And, to make it even more incredible, the battery pack also has 2 air quality sensors that analyze the air around you as you ride and suggests cleaner routes when the air becomes too polluted. You’d better act quickly if you want one – as this pre-production run consists of only 15 handmade bikes at a price of 8,000 € per unit.

Family Villa M in Slovenia

Architect studio SoNo created design of family villa in Slovenia. “One-family villa M is located in an area, which represents a typical Slovenian landscape. That is why the design derives from standard architectural elements, from which, one is dominant – gable roof. The house is made out of three elongated volumes with symmetrical gable roofs, which are set in a way that creates a dynamic ground floor organisation. It accomodates and serves the needs of the modern family and provides the highest level of comfort and quality living. Uniformed facade and roof’s form emphasize the dynamic of the three volumes especially with the combination of dark and light colour shades as well as the use of the materials themselves – pattern of wood panels and fiber-cement panels. Dark-light contrast facade complements the neighboring birch groves and its surrounding landscape. The final result presents a dream house for the investor and a quality addition to the Slovenian residential topography as well.”

Slovenian Easter Egg Art

Slovenian Franc Grom crafts beautiful, lacelike sculptures into egg shells, inspired by traditional Slovenian design. Each egg contains 2,500 to 17,000 tiny holes made with a small electric boring tool. Grom calls his ivory shelled masterpieces Easter eggs. Grom’s attention to detail accentuates the eggshell’s delicate nature, creating fragile vessels that light up from within. Check out the breathtaking ornaments below!

Traditional Slovenian Compact House

Designed by Dekleva Gregorič Arhitekti this simple-looking house is located in Slovenia and represents a modern take on a traditional cottage. Compact and designed as a monolithic structure it features concrete walls inlaid with stone. Small and compact houses are popular in this region and this particular one combines elements of both modern and traditional architecture. The exterior of the house features a rugged texture because of the combination of materials but the interior is a lot more friendly and inviting. The structure was built using the house within a house concept. A series of wooden volumes were inserted into the house and they delimitate the areas and the functions while also allowing the rooms to look and feel like tiny individual homes. The wooden volumes feature pitched roofs, just like the main house itself. The ground floor is a semi-public space that contains the living room, the kitchen and a shared bathroom. It’s an open space with a minimalist design. The color scheme is simple and based mostly on neutrals, featuring gray as the star shade combined with natural wood accents and white portions. A wooden staircase leads to the second floor. The bedroom, the playroom and the children’s room are located here. The staircase also doubles as a bookcase, featuring storage compartments that complement a desk situated just beneath. Each bedrooms resembles a separate wooden house with a lovely pitched roof and a stand-alone look. The two bedrooms look down onto the ground floor living space, featuring a rope wall. The house has very few windows. This type of design is common to the region and gives it an authentic look, allowing it to seamlessly blend in. The upper floor areas enjoy views of the sky and the surroundings while the ground floor spaces get to connect with the outdoors. A concrete fence surrounds the house on one side, softening the harsh texture and straight, clean angles but also emphasizing the rugged look at the same time.
