PlayTime – Bluetooth Speaker Designed With an Alarm Clock Motif

Seoul based designer Chanju Park has created a minimalist clock named PlayTime. In general this is a clock which at the same time is a speaker but vice versa – a hybrid analog clock/Bluetooth audio player. With its oversized alarm-clock aesthetic and polished finishes, it’s almost unrecognizable as a speaker and that’s precisely its appeal. Even its needle is a disguised digital music playback bar, indicating the duration of the music. Just like you can see the progress bar in your music app, you can also see it on the clock face!

UTOPIA Handmade Concrete BT Speakers

Utopia is a new brand out of Budapest that wants to custom build you a Bluetooth speaker with high-end components and concrete. Described by the brand as “an interesting mix between brutalist, industrial design and wireless sound technology,”s Utopia Handmade Concrete Speakers are the perfect display piece alternative to your Jamboxes and UE Rolls. What it lacks in portability it more than makes up for in sound quality and unique styling. Each concrete speaker is handmade in Budapest and, due to the nature of the material, no two will be cosmetically identical. But they will all produce the same high-quality sound because of the low resonance enclosure, the speaker hardware, Bluetooth 4.0 aptX or 3.55 wired connection. Utopia Handmade Concrete Speakers are currently raising funds on Indiegogo with an estimated shipping date in September/October of this year.

This Floating Cloud Is A Speaker That Plays Music

Richard Clarkson Studio and Crealev present:  Making Weather , a levitating cloud project. The project is a collaboration between the two companies – merging the innovative levitation technology developed by Crealev with the form and function of the Cloud product of Richard Clarkson Studio.  Making Weather is the name of the collaboration effort to create a floating cloud. While the collaboration is ongoing the first prototype has recently been released; A mid-size cloud which floats above a reflective oval base. Embedded into both the base and the Cloud are magnetic components that allow the cloud to float 1-2 inches off the base. While the base itself must remain plugged in a rechargeable lithium ion battery powers the Cloud and enables a totally wireless and unobstructed levitation while in use. With full rotational movement and slight vertical bobbing of the cloud a more realistic atmospheric experience is possible. This floating cloud also has an inbuilt Bluetooth speaker and sound reactive LED lights. With the hopes that this will soon become available as a commercial product both companies will continue innovate with the exciting technology.
