Bentley is pushing its grand tourer into territory it has never dared to enter before. The new Continental GT Supersports arrives as a lean, rear-wheel-drive missile built to honor the original 1925 Bentley Super Sports. That first car was the brand’s breakthrough performance machine capable of breaking the 100 mph barrier. A century later, the nameplate returns with a purpose that is unmistakably modern.

Weight reduction drives the entire concept. Engineers stripped almost half a tonne from the regular Continental GT, bringing the figure down to under 2000 kg. The back seats are gone. In their place sits a sculpted carbon fiber tub wrapped in leather. Carbon fiber spreads across the cabin, paired with leather and Dinamica, while each car receives an individual number plate. Even the exhaust plays a role. The Akrapovič full-length titanium system cuts weight and promises a soundtrack that will drown out any polite expectations of what a Bentley should sound like.

Power comes from a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 666PS and 800Nm, driving only the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. That setup launches the car from 0 to 62 mph in 3.7 seconds and on to 192 mph. Handling hardware follows the same philosophy. A wider rear track, rear-wheel steering, an electric limited-slip differential and recalibrated suspension let the Supersports corner around 30% quicker than a GT Speed, generating up to 1.3G.

The exterior underlines the intent. The front bumper houses the largest splitter ever fitted to a street-legal Bentley, backed by new cooling channels for the engine and brakes. Carbon fiber dive planes, fender blades, side sills and a deep rear diffuser control airflow, while a fixed rear wing locks the car down at high speed. Bentley claims more than 300 kg of downforce over the GT Speed. Brakes are as serious as the aerodynamics, with 440 mm carbon-silicon-carbide discs and ten-piston calipers up front, matched with 410 mm units at the rear.

Paint and trim choices are extensive. Twenty-four core exterior colors are offered, with full Mulliner personalization available for those who want something bespoke. Inside, buyers can choose from dozens of hide combinations or swap carbon fiber for aluminium or Piano Black.

Development began in September 2024 under the code name Project Mildred, inspired by racing driver Mildred Mary Petre. The concept of a lightweight rear-drive GT moved from theory to track mule in just six weeks, a speed unheard of for the brand. Orders open in March 2026, production is capped at 500 units and the first deliveries are scheduled for early 2027. Pricing remains undisclosed but expect a substantial jump over the Continental GT Speed’s £240,000 starting point, placing the car in rare company among the world’s most expensive cars.
