When two brands rooted in design and performance join forces in the the kitchen, it yields something unexpected yet strangely perfect. Porsche and Smeg have created a collection of kitchen appliances that blend motorsport heritage with everyday functionality. Inspired by the iconic 1970 endurance race car that marked Porsche’s first overall victory at Le Mans, this collection evokes the same Salzburg red paint, white racing stripes, and number 23 decal that defined that winning machine.

The star pieces are highly limited: a retro-styled fridge finished in that signature red, and a matching bean-to-cup coffee machine, both numbered among only 1,970 units each, with each unit bearing its own metal identification plate. The fridge features design cues from Porsche’s sports car proportions, including matte black handles and darker interior trims, while the coffee machine brings cafe-level brewing together with a built-in grinder and steam wand, also trimmed in matte black.

Beyond the limited red edition, there are non-limited color versions drawn from Porsche’s own palette: a Carrara White Metallic and a Shade Green Metallic. These finishes carry through the fridge, toaster, kettle, and blender, each piece subtly carrying Porsche design touches such as black accents, racing striping, custom-numbered knobs or controls, and clean sculptural silhouettes. The toaster offers six browning settings plus functions for reheating, defrosting, and bagels. The kettle holds about 1.7 L of water, displays temperature gauge icons, has a soft-opening lid, and switches off automatically at boiling. The blender gives four manual speeds, three automatic presets like smoothie or ice-crush, plus an auto-clean function.

Prices run from a few hundred dollars for the smaller appliances up to several thousand for the flagship models. The limited fridge is priced at around $4,499, while the limited coffee machine is about $1,599. The standard-finish fridge is somewhat more accessible, and the toaster or kettle start from roughly $349. The collection is available through Smeg’s and Porsche’s official channels plus selected retailers and design stores.

This collaboration is more than a themed design exercise. It reflects the shared ethos of both brands: precision engineering, attention to detail, emotional design, and creating objects that are not just functional but beautiful in everyday life. For someone who appreciates craftsmanship, style, or has passion for motorsport heritage, these appliances make for more than kitchen tools – they become conversation pieces and collectible items.
