Mercedes-Benz Vision EQ Silver Arrow Concept Car

Looking to the past can inspire the future, as it did with the sleek silver beauty Mercedes-Benz unveiled at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The legendary luxury carmaker was influenced by their 1937 W 125 Grand Prix racer driven by Rudolf Caracciola, which flew at 268.7mph — a public road record that wasn’t broken until 2017. The aerodynamic electric Silver Arrow is made from carbon fiber and coated with alubeam silver. Its slender, seamless design is accented with lighting strips on the side skirts, leading to a pair of extendible spoilers that can act as air brakes. The vehicle sits on lightweight aluminum wheels with 168 spokes, each painted in rose gold. Step into the cockpit and find a saddle brown leather seat, brushed aluminum, walnut detailing, and a huge panoramic screen. Underneath the hood, the electric motors deliver 750 horsepower with a range of up to 248 miles. It even has artificial intelligence that can set you up to enter a virtual race against past or present silver arrow racing cars. To top it off, it has a touchscreen on the steering wheel that you can use to choose different driving modes or configure sound settings, like making the car roar as if it were a Formula 1 Silver Arrow. Full kitchen. Full bathroom. Convertible dining / lounging / sleeping area and, most importantly, over six feet of vertical clearance, which is incredibly important if you’d actually like to stand up in your camper instead of constantly crawling around. The Lennson 3C also has more storage space than most NYC apartments, so you’ll have plenty of room for all your important gear and supplies without having to worry about restocking all that often.

The ‘GT’ concept will be instantly recognizable, thanks to its bold exterior and overall sporty attitude. The ‘Panamericana’ grille. with vertical ribs and red touches, the slim main headlamps and side air gills are definitive for AMG GT cars, and please note the powerful shade of red, which seems to be inspired from liquid metal. The ‘Nano Active Fiber’ technology is a first for daytime running lights, allowing the concept before you to display an autonomous light signature, while at the back, things remain equally recognizable thanks to the extremely slim horizontal tail lamps and the shape of the tailgate. You might have noticed there are no exterior mirrors on this concept, and that’s because their function has been replaced by aerodynamic miniature cameras, while the a-wing of the front spoilers, the rear diffuser, and the side sill panels have been designed from in high-quality carbon fiber. There is no performance data to talk about yet, although we know that the operating strategy of this concept vehicle came from the hybrid powerpack of the Mercedes Petronas AMG formula 1 racing car, which means the battery pack could be charged even when the vehicle is being driven. Great Mercedes-Benz Sculpture by Gerry Judah

Artist Gerry Judah has created a sculpture for Mercedes-Benz as part of the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2014 in West Sussex, England. “Mercedes-Benz can trace its motorsport origins back through three centuries, to 1894, when Daimler engines powered the world’s first winners on the rough roads of France. It’s appropriate then, that this year’s sculpture at Goodwood Festival of Speed represents that enormous span through thirteen decades. Soaring 26 metres over Goodwood House, this 160-tonne steel sculpture is 90 metres long and was created by artist Gerry Judah. It was 80 years ago when the legend of the German racing “Silver Arrows” was born. Stripped of their lead-based white paint, the 1934 Mercedes-Benz W25 – like the example installed here – won at its first outing at the notorious Nürburgring Nordschleife, with Manfred von Brauchitsch at the wheel – and since then, the company’s works cars have always been silver. The other Silver Arrow soaring overhead is the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team’s F1 W04. This car, chassis number 04, was raced in 15 Grands Prix in 2013 by Lewis Hamilton, most notably to five Pole positions; to victory in the Hungarian Grand Prix; and to third place podiums in Malaysia, China and Belgium.”

Sporting the traditional long-hood, short rear deck shape of our favorite sports cars, the Vision Gran Turismo looks like something straight out of the future with features like a LED encrusted front grille and 8-tailpipe exhaust system built right into the rear bumper of the car. Under the hood lies an AMG sourced V8 bi-turbo engine pumping out roughly 580 horsepower along with 590 lb-ft of torque. Utilizing an aluminum space-frame body paired with carbon fiber parts, this beauty tips the scales at 1,385 kilograms. Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo concept will be a part of the initial GT6 release with other designs introduced over time via online updates. A 1:1-scale model of the Mercedes-AMG Vision Gran Turismo will be unveiled at the opening of the new Mercedes-Benz Research & Development Center in California this week, but unfortunately this design looks set to remain a virtual reality.
