Alfa Romeo has offered a glimpse of its future with the Cuorerosso, a striking 2+2 coupé unveiled at the 2026 Paris Motor Show. More than a preview of a single production car, the concept serves as a design manifesto for the brand’s next generation of vehicles, combining classic Italian styling with new technologies and a more flexible approach to electrification. Its name translates to “Red Heart,” reflecting Alfa Romeo’s ambition to preserve the emotion and character that have defined its cars for more than a century.
The Cuorerosso measures 4.7 meters long and features a low, wide stance, with a height of just 1.33 meters. Its bodywork appears to have been sculpted from a single piece, with uninterrupted surfaces and carefully controlled proportions. Alfa Romeo calls this approach Bellezza Necessaria , or “Necessary Beauty,” a philosophy focused on removing anything that does not serve the design, function, or driving experience. The result blends the elegance of a grand touring coupé with the aggressive presence of a modern supercar.
Several familiar Alfa Romeo design elements return in new forms. The signature Scudetto grille is reinterpreted with illuminated triangular details, while the sharply tapered rear draws inspiration from the brand’s historic Coda Tronca designs. Gold telephone-dial wheels provide a distinctive contrast to the bodywork, and the absence of conventional door handles keeps the exterior exceptionally clean. Rear-hinged doors open through a touch control integrated into the roof, adding a theatrical touch to the concept’s minimalist silhouette.
The interior is equally unconventional. Alfa Romeo has reimagined its traditional twin-cowl instrument panel as the Cannocchiale Vivente , a motorized gauge cluster that changes shape as the driving experience intensifies. The two instrument pods move together to create a more focused display when the driver wants a sportier experience. Rather than filling the cabin with large touchscreens, the concept retains physical controls with tactile feedback, including mechanical toggles on its steer-by-wire steering wheel.
Materials play a central role in the cabin’s identity. Hand-finished Poltrona Frau nubuck upholstery is combined with tensioned monofilament fabric inspired by the equipment used in Luna Rossa sailing competitions. The center console features a glowing, magma-like surface that activates when the car starts, adding a dramatic visual element without overwhelming the restrained interior.
Under the bodywork, the Cuorerosso points toward a multi-energy future rather than an exclusively electric lineup. Alfa Romeo envisions a range of vehicles using different powertrains, including fully electric, plug-in hybrid, mild-hybrid, and full-hybrid systems. For the concept’s flagship configuration, the brand imagines a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 paired with hybrid assistance and Q4 all-wheel drive. Power and performance figures have not been announced, so the proposed drivetrain remains a vision rather than a confirmed production specification.
The concept weighs approximately 1,750 kilograms and features air suspension, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, and a reported drag coefficient of 0.28. These figures underline the project’s focus on combining performance with aerodynamic efficiency, although Alfa Romeo has not positioned the Cuorerosso as a production-ready model.
Instead, its importance lies in the design language it introduces. Alfa Romeo says the principles behind the concept will influence its future lineup, with the new visual direction expected to begin shaping production models from 2028. The Cuorerosso may never reach showrooms in its current form, but it offers a compelling indication of how the Italian marque intends to balance electrification and modern technology with the distinctive styling and driver-focused character that have long defined its identity.
