Imagine a world where your living room hosts a vibrant window into an aquatic paradise, and the fish within glide effortlessly, unconcerned with the world beyond their watery realm. This is the daily reality for owners of the Avo self-cleaning fish tank. Dreamt up by designer Susan Shelley and brought to life by Noux, this aquarium has made waves in the world of fishkeeping by offering an elegant solution to one of the hobby’s most cumbersome tasks: the cleaning.

Traditional fish tanks can be a labor of love. They demand regular scrubbing, water treatments, and filter changes, tasks that can take the joy out of fishkeeping. Enter Avo by young British designer Suzy Shelley, the stylish, spherical tank that cleans itself. Its magic lies in a cycle as old as life itself—nitrification. This is where friendly bacteria step up as unsung heroes, turning waste into a feast for live plants, which, in a generous exchange, purify the water.

The Avo doesn’t stop at self-cleaning. Its energy-efficient LED lights do more than just showcase the iridescent scales of its swimming residents; they breathe life into the plants that line the tank’s bed. This light show doesn’t just keep the greenery thriving; it ensures your fish are always basking in conditions that mimic their natural habitats, all while adding a subtle glow to your home.

  1. £100K raised. Over 3 year wait. No fish tanks produced and backers left empty handed. Susan Shelley refuses to communicate. Just walks off into the sunset with the cash leaving those that trusted and supported her very disappointed. Unprofessional, unethical and immoral. What a charade and a fraud.

  2. What a joke. Project launched in 2014, raised £100K to make the fish tanks and as at start of 2018, those investors are still waiting for the tanks. In the meantime Susah Shelley is refusing to provide refunds but has taken £55K out of the company. Hard to believe this is still being promoted.

    1. THIS WAS A LIE!!!
The project was funded but they never delivered the product! The young British designer took the money, and didn’t deliver anything. She did not give any updates on the project’s page since December and she’s ignoring the backers asking for updates.
