  1. Superb painting Mr. Rob, Truly world class. I haven’t seen such paintings in my entire life. great work.

  2. You are genius Mr.Rob Hefferon, I give you no.1 in painting of romance,

  3. well.
first, yes, this is painting ( the guy use canvas, brush…)
yes, the guy has a technic, but not his own, just a technic
so, at the end, this is boring, cheap and no, sorry, but this is not art, only not-so-good illustration like millions and millions illustrator, perfect for a romance-book-cover, you know… by the way, is Barbara Cartland an artist ? no, yes, she write books… but no, she not an artist like, well, like an artist who makes litterature

  4. This is more than “fashion photoghaphy”! Love, there is romance in every painting (especially if your a man). Stunning, best I’ve seen.
Mariana, I too would like to seen your paintings. How may I? William

  5. They are all beautiful… but they are all of fair skin tone too. For once I would like to see art of women with at least a little bit of color instead of being so stark white. I’m not trying to offend anybody but women of color are beautiful too. And how about a little weight? This series make it seem like that to be beautiful you have to be thin and have fair skin. Not everyone is like that. And what about romance? The paintings might be beautiful but I don’t see romance in them at all.

  6. It appears Mariana suffers from jealousy of another artist success. Admittedly the 1st picture on this page could be a photo out of Cosmo the rest and most other of Rob’s work are simply stunning paintings, that if you sit and look tell a story, and one thing that always stuck in my head from one of my art teachers in college is that any artworks main goal is to tell a story of what is going on, just enough story that it gets the imagination going and from that point the viewers mind fills in the story, most of these paintings do that.

I would love to see examples of Mariana’s artwork too, maybe we could learn something.

  7. just beautiful women in beautiful dresses. An attractive couple drinking wine at a classy establishment. We already have television and magazines to perpetuate this image of romance.

  8. Blah blah BORING. This isn’t romance painting. This is high fashion photography in paint form. There is no real love in these vignettes, just beautiful women in beautiful dresses. An attractive couple drinking wine at a classy establishment. We already have television and magazines to perpetuate this image of romance. The technical skill behind these is wonderful (I should know, I paint at this skill level,) but they leave me emotionally dead.

    1. Mariana, though I agree that this is little more than fashion photography with paint- I would like to see examples of your artwork that are “at this skill level”, since the artwork on Flickr page clearly doesn’t showcase this supposed skill.

      1. Vivienne, I’d invite you to go through my more recent work which lives in my bedroom, but that is obviously not possible. You probably reached my flickr through my blog- and if you saw my blog you’d know I face the predicament of not owning a proper camera, hence not documenting what I’ve been painting. The paintings on my flickr are not my most recent works, most if not all of it is from high school. A lot of it is transitory stuff that I got rid of but kept record of on my photostream.

Nice job trying to call me out though you’re very sharp aren’t you.

        1. I suppose I should have read your entire blog before criticizing your lack of evidence to support your claim that you are somehow entitled to give a critique because you apparently possess equal or greater technical skill than Rob Hefferan. Then again, you have to wonder if that claim was really necessary to begin with.

    2. Ok Mariana no one especially artisits myself included enjoy it when someone bad mouths the work that you put time effort and your heart into. I’m pretty sure you’ve had people make negative comments about your art so why don’t you remember that the next time you judge someone elses work, and don’t be so cocky just because you can paint at a great level. Good for you whoop de freakin’ do. Instead of being jealous put that emotion to your art and strive to do better don’t be a baby abd bad mouth.
P.S. The paintings are beautiful with the amount of detail that is virtually flawless, and I love the way he shows the natural lighting in the rooms and how they hit objects and people. Bravo

    3. Absolutely. Admirable technique but more of an illustrator than artist. No affinity with the subject…no soul.
