Luxury watch brand Omega opens 2026 with a confident update to one of the most recognizable chronographs ever made. Two new Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch Black and White models join the permanent collection, bringing reverse panda dials, ceramic bezels, and a quietly modernized execution to a design that has defined the Moonwatch for decades.
At first glance, everything feels familiar. The classic 42 mm Moonwatch case, twisted lugs, and balanced tri-compax layout remain untouched. Look closer, and the changes become clear. The dial is now built from two separate plates, both finished in high-gloss lacquer. The upper layer is polished black with white printing for the minute track and text. Beneath it, the recessed subdials reveal a contrasting glossy white base, printed in black. The result is a sharp, high-contrast reverse panda look with far more depth than a traditional printed dial.
Omega pairs this layered construction with applied hour markers and a matching handset, finished in rhodium-plated metal on the stainless steel version and 18K Moonshine Gold on the precious-metal model. Both use white Super-LumiNova for legibility. An applied Omega logo signals another important detail. These watches use sapphire crystals on both sides, not hesalite, reinforcing their position as a slightly more contemporary take on the Moonwatch formula.
The bezel also reflects that shift. Instead of anodized aluminum, Omega fits a black ceramic bezel insert with a white enamel tachymeter scale. This detail has largely been reserved for precious-metal or two-tone Speedmasters, making its debut on a stainless steel Moonwatch particularly notable. It gives the watch a crisper, more technical appearance without breaking from the Speedmaster identity.
Powering both versions is the manually wound Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3861. The movement offers a 50-hour power reserve, cam-operated chronograph architecture, a free-sprung balance, and Omega’s co-axial escapement. METAS certification guarantees resistance to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss along with stringent accuracy standards. Through the sapphire caseback, the finishing feels appropriately industrial yet refined, in line with the watch’s professional tool roots.
Both models are delivered on case-matching polished and brushed bracelets. The stainless steel Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch Black and White is priced at $10,400, while the 18K Moonshine Gold version comes in at $49,300. By placing the steel model into the standard catalog, Omega clearly positions this release not as a limited experiment, but as a long-term evolution of its most important chronograph.
These new Moonwatches do not attempt to rewrite history. Instead, they refine it, combining a beloved reverse panda aesthetic with modern materials and a more dimensional dial architecture. The result feels unmistakably Speedmaster, yet unmistakably current.
