Since its founding in 2007, Oswalds Mills Audio has continued to push the boundaries of what Hi-Fi equipment can be. From its camera-inspired Mini speaker to its horn-loaded Imperia tower, the Pennsylvania-based brand routinely looks to the past in order to create designs that are truly unique.
And its latest product – the K3 Turntable – is certainly no exception. The result of seven years of development and an international audio expert collaboration, it’s a product that promises to break new ground in the Hi-Fi market. For instance, the chassis is milled from cast iron, integrated with a series of liquid- and particulate-filled internal chambers designed to reduce vibrations. The platter and armboard also each incorporate similar technologies, with the latter also being coated in a tough ceramic typically applied to firearms.
As if that wasn’t enough, though, OMA fitted the K3 with the most powerful motor on a turntable to date. Made using components from the US military’s missile defense systems and accurate to molecular tolerances, it required over 1,100 hours of programming led by direct drive authority Richard Krebs.
