The McLaren Senna has been designed, engineered and developed with single-minded purpose: to be the ultimate McLaren track-concentrated car for the road. McLaren has named its new hypercar after legendary three-time F1 champion Ayrton Senna. The McLaren Senna is a track-focused road car, “legalised for road use, is how McLaren describes the new Senna, powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 producing 789 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. Weighing in at just 1,198 kilograms, it’s the lightest car the brand has ever produced and also has the highest power-to-weight ratio at 659 hp per ton. The engine will be paired with a dual-clutch, seamless-shift, seven-speed transmission delivering power to the rear wheels. The McLaren Senna will have RaceActive Chassis Control II (RCC II) hydraulic suspension working along with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires developed specifically for the car.
